Got invited to a show put on by the students yesterday. Before accepting the invitation, Jivas asked repeatedly if we were expected to be a part of the show or if we’d just be spectators.
“No no you just watch!”
Ok…

We arrived and were seated in the very front with name cards and fruit.
Ok…

5 minutes later we were asked to perform.

Not ok.

Lucky for us, Chris, a recent addition to the Jianyuan faculty, also attended the show, so we threw him to the Sharks 😁. A few minutes of nagging and he folded under the pressure. After a masterful (haha) rendition of some green day song, Jivas and I were free. They approached us again, disappointed that we didn’t perform but we politely refused. We’ve done enough embarrassing things in the last year and I personally don’t like being lied to.

The stand outs of the show what I believe was a traditional Zang minority dance and a short play about their military training. The drill sergeant killed it.
