David vs Goliath

vs
6’7”, 220lbs

Blue belt in BJJ a trying to establish credibility as an instructor at a local gym.
vs
Body builder trying to prove that he can escape my arm bar.

There aren’t many positive outcomes to this situation.

I refuse, I’m a coward and basically admit that BJJ a is ineffective.
I accept, he escapes, I lose credibility, but maybe a better practitioner could have held it.
I accept and break his arm, BJJ is effective, I’m reckless and gotta figure how I’m paying dudes hospital bills.

Reluctantly, I accepted.

What I hate most about someone trying to delegitimize BJJ is that while they see it as a challenge of their strength or something, I don’t know, in reality, especially with an arm bar, is a challenge to see how close I can get to breaking their arm without actually doing it.

OF COURSE you can escape an arm bar with no technique and through strength alone. Problem is you may be headed to the hospital once you’re free.

Lucky for the challenger, I’ve trained with some of the best in the world (BMAA, CDBJJ, BUMMA, Wai Kru & Redline Boston) so he isn’t in the hospital tonight. He does, however, have a greater appreciation of the art that is Brazilian Jiujitsu.
