I wrote this a while back…

Wrote this the top of 2014 and year later, I wouldn’t change a thing:

A new year is supposed to mean a clean slate, but it’s not. The problems you failed to address in 2013 persist despite the changing calendar. That broken heart of yours won’t suddenly heal. The bridges you burned won’t suddenly be repaired.

Similarly, the progress you made doesn’t just disappear. Your achievements are no less noteworthy. The mountains you have climbed and hardships you have endured are no less important and we are quick to forget that.

All your experiences thus far have created who you are today.

A new year does not mean a new you and it shouldn’t.
But it can mean a better you.
A stronger and more compassionate you.More steadfast in your principles. A better lover, a better friend. Smarter, faster, stronger; whatever. The adjective or qualifier doesn’t matter.
Take the whole of your experiences this new year to help create a better you.
